The ancestral home of the indigenous Mapuche people, Patagonia now lies divided between Chile and Argentina. As the Mapuche renew their fight for land rights, violence in the region has begun to escalate.
The Colonia Dignidad was a German cult-like sect established in Chile in the 1960s. In 2003, Franz Baar escaped. After suffering years of abuse, Baar worked with a journalist and a lawyer to expose the sect’s leader, Paul Schaefer.
On her way to work, Fabiola Campillai was blinded when she was shot in the face with a tear gas canister by police during Chile’s 2019 uprising. Despite having no experience in politics, the Indigenous mother and former factory worker decides to fight for justice and run for parliament.
